Job summary

Indiana University Health is seeking a Part-time Ultrasound Technologist for days, Monday, Tuesday and Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm, at White Memorial Hospital. The role requires performing general ultrasound, OB, vascular studies and vein mapping while ensuring patient safety and comfort.

The ideal candidate has 0-3 years of experience, is BLS-certified by the American Heart Association, and holds ARDMS/ARRT/CCI credentials as required by the facility.

Qualifications

  • 0–3 years of relevant experience.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association is required.
  • Must be actively credentialed (ARDMS/ARRT/CCI) or working toward credentials within specified timelines for the department.
  • May be required to meet registry/certification requirements for other modalities if applicable.
  • License from Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general ultrasound, OB, vascular studies, and vein mapping exams.
  • Ensure patient safety and comfort during procedures; explain process and position patients appropriately.
  • Operate sonographic equipment independently and obtain diagnostic-quality images.
  • Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to provide accurate diagnostic information.
  • Maintain high-level disinfection practices and assist with intraoperative ultrasound as needed.

Overview

We are searching for team members who are passionate about challenging and exciting work for the good of every patient!

This position is part time, days. The shift is Monday, Tuesday and Friday, from 7am-3:30pm, at White Memorial Hospital.

It is preferred that technologist be able to perform general ultrasound, OB, vascular studies and vein mapping exams.

Provides diagnostic patient care services using ultrasound to generate images of patients' internal organs, tissues, and blood flow. Responsible for the independent operation of sonographic equipment. Evaluates images for diagnostic quality and makes necessary adjustments to capture the best possible images. Collaborates with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to provide accurate diagnostic information. Ensures patient safety and comfort during procedures by explaining the process, positioning patients correctly, and adjusting equipment as needed. Familiar with current scan protocols. Maintains compliance with high level disinfection practices. Assists with minimally invasive procedures as needed. Possesses familiarity with ultrasound contrast indications and administration practices. Provides intraoperative ultrasound as requested.

  • Requires 0-3 years of relevant experience.
  • Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) is required.
  • Requires ability to maneuver equipment and improvise positions when the condition of the patient does not permit routine positioning.
  • For ACR accredited ultrasound departments. Requires active status through one of the following: American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS): Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer - Abdomen, RDMS(AB), Obstetrics & Gynecology, RDMS(OB/GYN), or Pediatric Sonography, RDMS(PS), and/or Registered Vascular Technologist - Vascular Technology , RVT(VT); American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT): Registered Technologist - Sonography, RT(S) or Vascular Sonography, RT(VS) ; or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI): Registered Vascular Sonographer, RVS; as required by facility accreditation, if applicable. Exception: if performing breast ultrasound only, must obtain credential through American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS): RDMS(BR); or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT): Registered Technologist - Sonography & Breast US, RT(S)(BS), or Radiography , Mammography & Breast Ultrasound, RT(R)(M)(BS); within 18 months of hire.
  • For non-ACR accredited ultrasound departments. Requires candidates to meet one of the two following conditions: Must be actively pursuing ultrasound education and have already passed the ARDMS physics boards, or must have graduated from an ultrasound education program. Requires certification through one of the methods mentioned in the accredited section above within 12 months of hire.
  • May be required to meet registry/certification requirements for another modality, if applicable.
  • May require license from Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH), if applicable.
