Job summary

Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital, Inc. in Boston seeks an Ultrasound Technologist to provide high-quality ultrasound imaging for patient diagnosis and treatment. You will perform scans, ensure patient comfort, and maintain patient safety and confidentiality.

The role requires excellent attention to detail and collaboration with the care team. ARDMS/ARRT preferred; onsite at 1153 Centre Street; sign-on bonus available and competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Education: Certificate/Diploma in Diagnostic Imaging or equivalent; Associate's Degree preferred.
• US sonography certification options are preferred (ARDMS/ARRT).
• Experience: Ultrasound Technologist 0-1 year required or equivalent.
• Maintain high standards of patient care and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Perform ultrasound exams and produce diagnostic images.
• Verify patient identity and exam orders; maintain room and equipment readiness.
• Collaborate with clinicians and staff for efficient workflow.
• Participate in on-call/shift coverage as needed.
• Support QA, research, and department improvement initiatives.

Responsible for providing quality patient care while producing ultrasound images and patterns used for patient diagnosis and treatment. The responsibilities also include completing scans effectively and efficiently while maintaining the highest possible standards of patient care to provide the most remarkable patient experience.

Essential Functions

• Patient & Exam Verification: Confirm patient identity using two identifiers (full name and DOB). Review exam orders and clinical history. Prepare and clean equipment and rooms; restock supplies as needed.
• Patient Care & Collaboration: Clearly explain procedures, considering patient comfort and confidentiality. Collaborate with leadership to ensure efficient workflow and scanner use. Provide care within the scope of training and licensure.
• Department & On-Call Coverage: Participate in on-call, holiday, and flexible shift coverage as needed.
• Clinical Performance: Perform ultrasound exams and assist with training staff and students. Operate equipment and follow protocols. Complete additional duties as assigned.
• Research & Quality Initiatives: Support and participate in departmental research, QA, and improvement projects. Conduct research-related ultrasound exams as required.

Qualifications

Education Other Certificate/Diploma Diagnostic Imaging required or Trade/Technical/Vocational Diploma Diagnostic Medical Sonographer required and Associate's Degree Diagnostic Imaging preferred

Licenses and Credentials

• Certified Sonographer - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) preferred
• Sonography [R.T.(S)(ARRT)] - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) preferred
• Radiologic Technologist [MA] preferred

Experience

• Ultrasound Technologist 0-1 year required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Comprehensive understanding of computer operations relating to Imaging, Electronic Health Records, Reporting Systems, PACS, and all Hospital Information Systems that integrate with the department, relating to patient information and management. Possesses analytical abilities necessary to effectively utilize advanced knowledge of imaging processes, techniques, procedures, and anatomy. Exemplifies flexibility and willingness to adapt to the operational needs and presents as a positive representative of the department. Excellent attention to detail, written, and communication skills Use independent judgment and initiative under pressure in a variety of situations. Maintains effective working relations and communication with colleagues and patients.
