Job summary

St. David's Medical Center, part of St. David's HealthCare, is seeking an Ultrasound Technologist to perform general sonography (abdomen, obstetrics, small parts), NICU exams, and vascular studies. Responsibilities include 2D, color flow, Doppler, TCD, and Histotripsy in a fast-paced acute care setting.

The role requires ARDMS certification at hire, RVT within a year, and BLS. Weekend nights with one weekday call, and benefits as part of the hospital system.

Qualifications

• Associates degree from an approved ultrasound technology education program.
• One year of vascular and general sonographer work experience in acute care setting preferred.
• ARDMS certification required upon hire; RVT within one year.
• BLS Certification per policy.

Responsibilities

• Perform complete 2D, color flow, spectral Doppler exams, including NICU and pelvic exams.
• Perform vascular procedures: carotid, venous, renal, TCD and arterial Doppler; Histotripsy.
• Notify physicians of positive findings prior to discharge.
• Provide preliminary measurements and interpretations of examinations.
• Conduct QC and maintain equipment and supplies for the vascular lab.
• Review and revise lab protocols to maintain efficiency.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

This position is weekends nights only 7p-7a with one day of call during the week.

Job Summary And Qualifications

As an Ultrasound Technologist, you are responsible for performing general sonography (abdominal, obstetrics, and small parts), NICU exams and pelvic exams, and imaging of arteries and veins. You will perform non-invasive and invasive vascular procedures including but not limited to carotid, venous, renal, TCD and arterial doppler procedures and Histotripsy. You will work closely with other healthcare team members to facilitate exceptional patient care and efficient completion of diagnostic studies and procedures while also promoting optimal unit operations.

• You will demonstrate effective working knowledge of all equipment used in and related to their job functions.
• You will perform complete 2-dimensional, color flow, and Spectral Doppler exams, TCD, and Histotripsy, according to protocol.
• You will perform NICU exams and pelvic exams including 1st trimester OB and limited after 1st pregnancy exams
• You will notify physicians of any positive findings that need attention prior to patient’s release.
• You will provide preliminary measurements and interpretations of examinations.
• You will perform necessary equipment checks and QC procedure and reports equipment malfunctions to supervisor.
• You will maintain adequate supply of materials for vascular lab.
• You will review and revise lab protocol to maintain a high level of efficiency.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

• Associates degree from an approved ultrasound technology education program

Experience

• One year of vascular and general sonographer work experience in acute care setting-preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) certification- required upon hire
• Registered Vascular Technician (RVT) within one year of hire
• BLS Certification as per St. David’s Healthcare policy
