Job summary

Michigan Medicine in Troy is seeking a Breast Imaging Ultrasound Technologist to perform breast ultrasound exams, provide ultrasound guidance, and operate the sonographic equipment independently across breast procedures.

You will oversee daily ultrasound operations, monitor equipment maintenance, report failures, and maintain quality standards. ARDMS or ARRT certification is required on hire, with Post Primary certification due within 6 months of hire.

  • Primary Source Verification is required for this classification.

Job Summary

To perform and communicate results of diagnostic breast ultrasound exams including performing ultrasound guidance while assisting in breast procedures. The breast ultrasound technologist is responsible for independent operation of the sonographic equipment.

The breast ultrasound technologist is responsible for the daily operations of breast ultrasounds and procedures. Monitoring/ensuring equipment maintenance, the report of equipment failures and ongoing assessment to ensure quality is a critical function of this position.

Responsibilities
  • Independently perform clinical assessment and breast sonography examinations with minimal supervision

  • Demonstrates independent judgment to acquire the optimum breast imaging information in each examination performed.
Required Qualifications
Breast Imaging Ultrasound Qualifications
  • Registration with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers, ARDMS, is required upon hire and ARDMS(BS) Post Primary is required within 6 months of hire date OR
  • Registration with the American Registry of Radiology Technologist is required upon hire and ARRT(BS) Post Primary is required within 6 months of hire date.
  • This classification requires Primary Source Verification.

Modes of Work

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the United Michigan Medicine Allied Professionals (UMMAP), which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.

Background Screening
