Job summary

New York Imaging in Setauket is seeking an Ultrasound Technician specializing in OB/GYN. You will perform comprehensive OB/GYN ultrasound exams, including transvaginal and fetal assessments, while ensuring safety and high-quality imaging.

Join a collaborative team with strong emphasis on patient care, accurate reporting, and adherence to imaging protocols. On-site role with potential FT growth and competitive hourly compensation.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited ultrasound program or equivalent.
• RDMS (OBGYN) certification required.
• Bachelor’s/Associate degree preferred.
• Minimum 2 years relevant work experience.

Responsibilities

• Follow all OB/GYN radiology policies to ensure safe, high-quality imaging and patient care.
• Maintain a sanitary, organized, and safe environment.
• Independently perform OB and GYN ultrasound exams, including transvaginal and fetal assessments.
• Perform and document routine maintenance and checks on equipment for reliable ultrasound function.
• Apply OB/GYN lab and imaging protocols to ensure diagnostic accuracy.
• Prepare detailed impressions to support provider diagnosis and treatment planning.
• Relay imaging results to OBGYN providers and radiologists promptly.
• Expedite emergent OB exams and assist during outpatient procedures.

Key Responsibilities

As an Ultrasound Tech at NYI, you will be integral to the care and support of both patients and the medical team. Your primary responsibilities will include:

In this role, you will:

• Compliance – Follow all OBGYN radiology policies and protocols to ensure safe, high-quality imaging and patient care.

• Cleanliness – Maintain a sanitary, organized, and safe environment aligned with infection control and women’s health standards.

• Ultrasound Imaging – Independently perform a full range of OB and GYN ultrasound exams, including transvaginal and fetal assessments.

• Equipment Maintenance – Perform and document routine maintenance and checks to ensure reliable and accurate ultrasound function.

• Protocol Adherence – Apply and follow established OBGYN-specific lab and imaging protocols to ensure diagnostic accuracy.

• Reporting – Prepare detailed and clear preliminary impressions to support provider diagnosis and treatment planning.

• Communication – Relay imaging results and observations promptly to OBGYN providers and collaborating radiologists.

• Urgent Care Support – Expedite emergent OB exams for conditions such as pregnancy complications or abnormal findings.

• Procedure Assistance – Support physicians during outpatient procedures like sonohysterograms, biopsies, and follicular scans.

• Organization – Exhibit strong communication and time management skills to maintain workflow efficiency and patient satisfaction.

• Technology Use – Operate EMRs and imaging software effectively for scheduling, documentation, and follow-up coordination.

What We’re Looking For:

Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited ultrasound program or equivalent

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, with a focus on patient care

• Proficiency in using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) is preferred

• Attention to detail, maintaining professionalism and high standards of care

Additional Requirements:

• Reliable transportation to travel to NYI locations as needed

• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand, bend, and sit for prolonged periods

• Starting Salary: Up to $48 per hour
