Job summary

Saint Luke's Hospital in Texas is seeking a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to perform ultrasound procedures with minimal supervision and contribute to accurate diagnosis for diverse patient populations. Qualified candidates are graduates of an accredited sonography program, ARDMS/ARRT registered, and must have active BLS within 60 days of hire.

Preferred 2–5 years of experience in diagnostic sonography. This is a hospital-based on-site role with comprehensive benefits and career development

• Registered with ARDMS or ARRT in Sonography.
• Active healthcare provider Basic Life Support on hire.

Responsibilities

• Produce high quality diagnostic sonographs with appropriate equipment.
• Evaluate images for technical quality and proper documentation.
• Practice aseptic techniques and venipuncture as required.
• Prepare and administer contrast media as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
• Assist with amnio biopsy procedures if required.

Job Summary

Under minimal supervision, performs basic diagnostic ultrasound procedures, as requested by a licensed physician. Exercises professional judgment in providing health care services, to assist in diagnosis or treatment of patients in all age groups from newborn to elderly. May be multi-credentialed in the area of sonography. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Produces high quality diagnostic sonographs, by selecting and operating appropriate sonographic equipment
• Evaluates images for technical quality, assuring proper identification and procedure is recorded, assists practitioner with sonography, and uses high frequency sound waves for the purpose of diagnostic images
• Practices aseptic techniques as necessary, understands methods of venipuncture and other sterile techniques in agreement with state statues and/or where institutional policy permits,
• Prepares, identifies and/or administers contrast media as prescribed by a licenses practitioner.
• Assists with amnio procedure biopsies if required.
  

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION: Graduate of a school of Diagnostic Medical Sonography
PREFERRED EDUCATION: Associates Degree
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 2-5 years in Diagnostic Sonography
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Must be registered with American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or the American Registry of Radiology Technologist in Sonography (ARRT).
PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE:
REQUIRED COURSES/ COMPLETIONS (e.g., CPR): Must have active healthcare provider Basic Life Support on hire (ARC or AHA); however, must have AHA Healthcare Provider BLS within 60 days of hire.
