Job summary

Trinity Health Ann Arbor Hospital in Michigan is seeking a part-time Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to review orders, prepare patients, and perform specialized ultrasound examinations for diagnostic interpretation. The role requires ARDMS certification (or registry-eligible within one year), BLS, and anatomy knowledge.

The Sonographer will work closely with radiologists and Ultrasound leadership, with rotating shifts and potential PRN contingencies.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Medical Sonography program.
• Registered by ARDMS with minimum one certification or registry-eligible with certification within one year of hire.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• In-depth knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy.
• Ability to produce and evaluate quality ultrasound images.
• One year as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer preferred.

Responsibilities

• Explain ultrasound procedures to patients with care and empathy.
• Review patient charts and prior ultrasound results.
• Operate and adjust ultrasound equipment safely to obtain diagnostic images.
• Consult with radiologist to determine need for additional images.
• Schedule examinations and handle related clerical tasks.
• Assist in biopsy or operating room procedures while maintaining sterile technique.
• Maintain infection control documentation and procedures.
• Support staff education and orientation as assigned.
• Adapt to schedule and location changes; rotate shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.
