Job summary

UAB Medicine's radiology team at UAB St. Vincent's East in Birmingham is seeking a qualified Medical Sonographer to support advanced imaging services in a fast-paced inpatient and outpatient environment.

The position features a 7on/7off schedule (3pm–1:30am, Wednesday through Tuesday) with a sign-on bonus up to $5,000. Eligible benefits include PTO, parental leave, and tuition reimbursement, among others, while opportunities for cross-training promote professional growth.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) within 30 days of hire.
• ARDMS Sonography credential at time of hire.
• Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Sets up and adjusts all equipment and manually maneuvers transducers to perform exams.
• Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures.
• Performs routine and complex studies and assists in a variety of imaging procedures.
• Recognizes significant structures, artifacts, pathology and equipment limitations.
• Ensures equipment is properly functioning; reports potential problems or equipment malfunction.
• Ensures high-quality images and documents are submitted to PACS with correct markers and patient data/history.
• Maintains a clean, orderly department and supports compliance with regulatory agencies.

Education

High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience, or Associate's degree, or Technical degree required
