Job summary

The New School's University Learning Center (ULC) is seeking a part-time Writing Tutor to support undergraduate and graduate students in a variety of writing projects. The role includes brainstorming, outlining, drafting, citation guidance, and helping with time management and presentation skills.

Training is provided to strengthen academic skills. The position operates in hybrid mode with an hourly rate of $29.20 through August 31.

Qualifications

• Tutors must be enrolled in a relevant program at The New School and have at least one year of tutoring/teaching experience.
• GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Reliable and punctual.
• Able to commit to 6+ tutoring hours per week.
• Experience working with ADHD is a plus.
• Federal Work Study preferred.
• Experience with ESL and graduate-level students strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Tutor graduate and undergraduate students in writing projects and assist with general academic skill building (oral presentations, time management).
• Provide writing assistance including brainstorming, outlining, drafting, citation, and plagiarism avoidance (including AI).
• Lead in-class workshops and ULC workshops.
• Complete administrative tasks such as session descriptions and daily attendance summaries.

Tutors help students become stronger and more independent learners, so that they succeed in achieving their academic goals. **Job Responsibilities:*** Tutor graduate and undergraduate students in a variety of writing projects and assist with general academic skill building such as oral presentations and time management (training provided).
