Job summary

The New School's University Learning Center is seeking a part-time tutor to support students in software and programming topics. You’ll tutor both undergraduate and graduate students in programs like Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Rhino, Figma, Blender, Premiere, After Effects, AutoCAD, Fusion, V-Ray, Revit, SketchUp and languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python, Unity and Arduino.

Work is hybrid, with a flexible schedule and focus on building independent, capable learners.

Qualifications

  • Must have high level of comfort with Adobe CS and strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Currently enrolled as undergraduate or graduate at The New School.
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher is required.
  • Prior tutoring or teaching experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Tutor undergraduate and graduate students in software such as Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Rhino, Figma, Blender, Premiere, After Effects, AutoCAD, Fusion, V-Ray, Revit, SketchUp and/or coding languages.
  • Demonstrate basics and assist with complex problems across a range of skill levels.
  • Complete session briefs and email daily attendance summaries.
  • Lead in-class workshops and/or specialized ULC workshops.

Tutors help students become stronger and more independent learners, so that they succeed in achieving their academic goals. **Job Responsibilities:*** Tutor undergraduate and graduate students in various software, including Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Rhino, Figma, Blender, Premiere, After Effects, AutoCAD, Fusion, V-Ray, Revit, SketchUp, etc and/or in various coding languages, such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python, Unity, Arduino and other languages you are fluent in.* Work with students of varying skill levels from demonstrating the basics to assisting with complex problems and a range of issues in between.* Create a professional and welcoming environment by modeling respect for students’ diverse cultures, language skills, and experiences.* Complete administrative tasks, such as writing brief descriptions of each session and emailing a brief summary of daily attendance.* Other opportunities include leading in-class workshops and/or specialized ULC workshops.**Minimum Qualifications:*** Must have a high level of comfort and expertise in the Adobe CS and other software programs and/or must have strong knowledge of computer programming and a high level of expertise in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
