Job summary

The Marvin Group, a defense contractor near Los Angeles, seeks a UL 508A Control Panel Designer to develop industrial control-panel enclosures, layouts, and documentation. You will own hardware definition and build packages with manufacturing and quality teams.

Required are a Bachelors in a relevant field and 4+ years in panel design, plus proficiency with electrical CAD tools and schematics. Export control compliance applies, and E-Verify is used.

Qualifications

• Bachelors' degree in Instrumentation & Controls, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation, Mechatronics, related engineering discipline, or equivalent work experience

Responsibilities

• Develop enclosure and back-panel layouts, including component arrangement, wireways, terminals, operator devices, thermal and spacing considerations, service access, and maintainability
• Select and integrate panel hardware, including enclosures, disconnects, protection devices, power supplies, terminals, wiring materials, and accessories, against approved requirements
• Create and maintain schematics, wiring and termination documentation, panel-layout drawings, bills of material, labels, assembly instructions, and revision-controlled build packages
• Apply design-for-manufacture and design-for-assembly practices; coordinate fabrication, workmanship, component traceability, inspection, and compliance reviews with manufacturing, qualified panel-shop, and quality staff
• Support prototype and production builds, continuity and point-to-point checks, power-up readiness, hardware functional checks, troubleshooting, corrective actions, and engineering changes
• Define and control hardware interface documentation for PLC, distributed I/O, network, and HMI connections as needed; PLC programming, HMI configuration, and commissioning ownership are outside this role
