Job summary

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE TECHNOLOGIES LLC is seeking a UI/UX designer to plan and run usability tests, synthesize findings, and translate insights into actionable design updates for web apps and Boston.gov pages.

You will create high-fidelity prototypes in Figma, review cross-team UX work, and contribute to design system components. Strong facilitation, systems thinking, and user-centered design are essential, with 3–4 years of relevant experience in a public-sector context.

Qualifications

• 3-4 years of experience in digital product and service design.
• Public sector experience or work in government environments preferred.
• Expert in UI design tools, agile workflows, and accessibility standards (WCAG).

Responsibilities

• Plan and run usability tests for web apps and Boston.gov pages.
• Synthesize findings into recommendations and design updates.
• Translate requirements into high-fidelity prototypes in Figma; range from wireframes to production-ready UI.
• Review and advise on UX/UI work led by other teams.
• Document components and contribute to the Boston Design System; guide decisions with data and research.
• Plan and run design sessions with senior leaders and stakeholders.

Job description

• Plan and run usability tests for web apps and Boston.gov pages (e.g. AI Search, Boston.gov/Permitting).
• Synthesize findings into recommendations and design updates.

UI design and prototyping:

• Translate requirements into high-fidelity, accessible prototypes in Figma. Work may range from rapid wireframing to production-ready UI for apps
• Review and advise on UX/ UI work being led by other teams

Design system contributions:

• Document components and contribute new patterns to the Boston Design System
• Synthesize data and research to guide decisions and translate findings into accessible, intuitive UI
• Use risks, opportunities, and constraints in technology, systems and policy to shape design
• Effectively plan and run design sessions that include senior leaders and stakeholders

Experience: 3-4 years of experience in digital product and service design

Public sector: Experience in government or similar organizational environments

Technical expertise: Expert in Figma, agile workflows, and WCAG accessibility standards, proficient in Miro and other digital collaboration tools

Skills: Strong facilitator, systems thinker, and ability to advocate for user-centered design in complex organizations.
