Job summary

ExxonMobil is seeking an experienced UIC Regulatory Lead to drive regulatory strategy for Underground Injection Control programs focused on Class VI CCS permitting across the U.S. Gulf Coast.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, geoscience, environmental science, or related field.
  • 10+ years in subsurface, wells, environmental, or regulatory roles.
  • Direct experience with UIC permitting, CCS projects, or similar regulatory frameworks.
  • Strong knowledge of Class VI UIC regulations (EPA/state primacy).
  • Experience drafting or reviewing technical permit components (AoR modeling, well design, monitoring).
  • Ability to work across disciplines in a complex, matrixed organization.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

  • Own compliance with UIC permit requirements across a growing CCS portfolio.
  • Lead development and submission of permit applications, amendments, and renewals.
  • Ensure high-quality technical content (subsurface modeling, well design, monitoring plans).
  • Drive continuous improvement in permitting efficiency and quality.
  • Oversee regulatory compliance across the full project lifecycle, including monitoring, reporting, and verification.
  • Engage regulators proactively to support timely approvals and influence policy evolution.
  • Partner with subsurface, wells, environmental, and project teams to align regulatory requirements.
  • Represent ExxonMobil in industry forums, technical working groups, and regulatory discussions.
  • Monitor industry trends and competitor activity to inform strategy and best practices.
