Job summary

Peak Performers has partnered with a Texas State Agency to assist in their search for a hybrid UI/UX Web Developer in San Antonio, TX. You will support ongoing development, enhancement, and design of the agency website to improve navigation and content findability.

Role requires 5 years of UI/UX and web development experience, with strong HTML5/CSS3/JavaScript skills, accessibility expertise, and proficiency with Figma/Adobe XD.

• 5 years of UI/UX and website design experience including information architecture and responsive design.
• 5 years of web development experience building responsive layouts with HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.
• 4 years of experience building web forms and submission workflows with validation and notifications.
• 4 years of accessibility-focused design and testing.
• 4 years of producing design files and style guides using Figma, Adobe XD, or similar tools.

Job description

Peak Performers has partnered with a Texas State Agency to assist in their search for a hybrid UI/UX Web Developer in San Antonio, Tx. In this position, you will be responsible for supporting the ongoing development, enhancement, and design of the agency website.

Major duties

• Design and maintain the agency website’s page structure, layout, site maps, information architecture, user flows, wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes.
• Develop responsive, mobile-first, accessible front-end layouts that align with agency brand standards and improve navigation and content findability.
• Build and maintain front-end code using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, including templates, content types, views, blocks, and layout configurations.
• Apply and manage CMS updates, move code through development, test, and production environments, and troubleshoot front-end display issues.
• Plan, design, build, and test website features such as forms, press releases, dashboards, alerts, and event calendars.
• Gather requirements from agency stakeholders, recommend supported solutions, and train staff and contractors on content management workflows.
• Perform accessibility testing and support compliance with Texas state website, security, and data-handling requirements.
• Monitor and improve site performance, mobile responsiveness, SEO, and overall user experience.
• Collaborate with the agency Strategic Communications team and other stakeholders to translate communications needs into website solutions.
• Maintain technical and design documentation, including repository details, configuration notes, style guides, and editor guides.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

What are we looking for?

Minimum

• 5 years of UI/UX and website design experience, including user research, page structure and layout, information architecture, wireframes, mockups, interactive prototypes, SEO, and responsive, mobile-first design and optimization.
• 5 years of web development experience building and maintaining responsive website layouts and interfaces using HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript, including custom theming, content types, views, blocks, module configuration, and custom module development.
• 4 years of experience building web forms and submission workflows, including validation, email notifications, submission routing, and integration with back-end services or APIs.
• 4 years of experience designing and developing websites that meet accessibility standards, including testing with automated tools and assistive technologies.
• 4 years of experience producing design files, component libraries, and style guides using Figma, Adobe XD, Adobe Creative Cloud, or comparable design tools.

Preferred

• 2 years of experience building web forms and submission workflows, dashboard development, event calendars, news or press release publishing, and site-wide alert or notification banners.
• 2 years of experience working on state government, municipal government, or other public-sector websites.
• 2 years of experience with web analytics and AI SEO.

• Rate: $40.00/hour
• W2 Contract

• 6 month contract with opportunity for extension
