Job summary

Cala Health is seeking a UI/UX Designer to own Cala’s digital experiences, including web and mobile, and to champion the creative vision across product and engineering. You will define a cohesive design language, translate requirements into user flows, and own documentation for scalable implementation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, HCI, Interaction Design, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of digital UI/UX or product design experience with shipped web and mobile products, including healthcare platforms under HIPAA and PHI constraints.
• Deep understanding of native mobile design standards (Apple HIG, Google Material Design).
• Strong accessibility knowledge (WCAG) and inclusive design.
• Experience with IEC 62366 and FDA Human Factors in regulated environments.
• Experience in Agile/Scrum environments with Product, Engineering, QA.
• A portfolio showing strong visual design and end-to-end UX across platforms.
• Proficiency in Figma (components, auto layout, variables, Dev Mode) and design docs.
• Hands-on with AI-assisted design tooling for concept work and prototyping, with sound judgement in regulated contexts.
• Frontend literacy (HTML/CSS, React or SwiftUI) to collaborate on feasibility.

Responsibilities

• End-to-end design execution across web and mobile, adhering to accessibility standards.
• Design data visualization and clinical insights dashboards.
• Develop Cala’s design language and system with a scalable component library and tokens.
• Conduct VOC research, interviews, and usability testing with Product Management.
• Collaborate with product and engineering on multimodal UI and connected devices.
• Document and hand off UI/UX specs with version control for engineering.
• Lead cross-functional design reviews and scale design operations in a regulated medical device environment.
