Job summary

Honda is seeking a UX/UI Designer to shape next‑generation in‑car interfaces. This role blends creative design execution with brand direction to deliver emotionally engaging, intuitive experiences for drivers worldwide.

You will translate UX frameworks into pixel‑perfect production, collaborate with Torrance, Ohio, and Japan teams, and contribute to multi‑modal, touch and display ecosystems across instrument clusters, center displays, HUDs, and more.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of UX/UI, interaction design, or visual design experience.
• Proven track record designing complex, multi‑modal consumer experiences; automotive UX a plus.
• Distinctive visual design style with a polished portfolio.
• Balance strategic thinking with hands‑on execution.
• Strong typography, composition, and UI principles.
• Mastery of Figma and Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop.
• Experience designing for touch, gesture, voice, and multi‑screen environments.
• High‑fidelity UI design: layout, color, hierarchy, iconography in Photoshop and Figma.
• Exceptional communication and collaboration skills.
• Willingness to work on-site daily in Torrance, CA.
• Cultural fluency; collaborate with international teams (Japan).

Responsibilities

• Translate driver insights into intuitive design concepts.
• Collaborate with UX, Engineering, Brand, Industrial Design across Torrance, Ohio, and Japan.
• Design clean interfaces balancing Honda and Acura brands with futuristic expression.
• Prototype interactions and micro‑animations using ProtoPie, After Effects and/or Figma Motion.
• Create production‑ready interfaces across instrument clusters, center displays, HUDs, passenger displays, and other digital touchpoints.
• Present and advocate for your design vision to multidisciplinary teams and leadership.
• Ensure designs meet usability, technical feasibility, and safety standards in automotive environments.
• Benchmark automotive and non‑automotive experiences to identify patterns and opportunities.

Overview

Honda is redefining the future of driving—and we're seeking a UX/UI Designer to help design that vision. This role blends creative and hands‑on design execution for next‑generation in-car digital interfaces, creating emotionally engaging, intuitive, and brand‑defining user experiences for millions of drivers worldwide.

You will focus on high‑quality UI design and execution, translating UX frameworks and brand direction into pixel‑perfect production. Additionally, you’ll participate and contribute to strategic design conversations and consider how digital experiences contribute to the overall character of a vehicle and brand. You’ll work closely with both our Torrance‑based and global teams to take ideas into actual vehicles.

While UI craft is at the core of this role, you should also understand UX fundamentals and be comfortable creating flows and early concepts to create cohesive customer experiences.

Key Responsibilities

• Translate driver insights and behavioral data into intuitive design concepts
• Collaborate closely UX, Engineering, Brand, Industrial Design teams in Torrance, Ohio, and Japan
• Design clean, modern interfaces that balance Honda and Acura brand values with futuristic expression
• Prototype interactions and micro‑animations using tools like ProtoPie, After Effects and/or Figma Motion to communicate intent clearly
• Create polished, production‑ready interfaces across instrument clusters, center displays, HUDs, passenger displays, and other digital touchpoints
• Present and advocate for your design vision across multidisciplinary teams and senior leadership through detailed documentation and presentations
• Ensure designs meet usability, technical feasibility, and safety standards in automotive environments
• Benchmark automotive and non‑automotive experiences to identify emerging patterns and opportunities

What We’re Looking For

• 3+ years of experience in UX/UI, interaction design, or visual design
• Proven track record designing complex, multi‑modal experiences for consumers - Automotive UX/HMI experience a plus
• A distinctive visual design style backed by a polished, compelling portfolio
• Comfortable balancing strategic thinking with hands‑on execution
• Strong visual design sensibility with a keen eye for detail, typography, composition, and overall UI principles
• Mastery of Figma and Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop
• Experience designing for touch, gesture, voice, and multi‑screen environments
• Strong proficiency in creating high‑fidelity UI design, including layout, color, hierarchy, iconography in both Photoshop and Figma
• Exceptional communication, storytelling, and collaboration skills
• Willingness and enthusiasm to work on‑site daily in Torrance, CA
• Cultural fluency and ability to collaborate with international teams (especially Japan)

Bonus Experience

• Strong working knowledge of UX principles, interaction design, information architecture, wireframing, and prototyping
• Understanding of scalable design systems and component‑based design
• Experience conducting user research, turning data into insights
• ProtoPie or other prototyping and motion skills including After Effects, Figma Motion, Unity, etc.
