Job summary

American Honda Motors is seeking a Senior UX/UI Designer to lead in-car digital interfaces, blending creative direction with hands-on design for next-generation infotainment systems. You will drive design strategy, translate driver insights, and collaborate with Torrance and Japan teams to create emotion and usability, while building scalable design systems and prototyping interactions.

This role requires on-site daily presence in Torrance, CA, with a distinctive visual style and proven ability

Qualifications

7+ years of UX/UI, interaction, or visual design.
Automotive UX/HMI experience is a plus.
Distinctive visual design style with a strong portfolio.
Balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
Experience designing for touch, gesture, voice, and multi-screen environments.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Willingness to work on-site daily in Torrance, CA.
Cultural fluency and ability to collaborate with international teams.

Responsibilities

Lead UX/UI design strategy for next-gen infotainment and HMI systems.
Translate driver insights into intuitive design concepts.
Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Industrial Design in Torrance and Japan.
Create clean interfaces balancing Honda values with futuristic expression.
Build and maintain scalable design systems and component libraries.
Prototype interactions and micro-animations to communicate intent.
Develop high-fidelity visuals and interface mockups for in-vehicle use.
Present design visions to multidisciplinary teams and leadership.
Ensure usability, accessibility, and safety standards in automotive contexts.
