Job summary

Iowa Workforce Development (IWD) is seeking an Employer Liability Specialist (ELS) in the Adjustments Unit of the Unemployment Insurance Division. This full-time role is based in Des Moines with hybrid telework after six months.

New hires start at $24.99/hour ($51,979.20 annually). The job requires auditing UI tax, reviewing wage adjustments, and collaborating with stakeholders on tax and benefit matters.

Qualifications

• Four-year degree with accounting coursework or related experience.
• Experience in financial auditing, tax collection, or related area preferred.
• Knowledge of unemployment insurance tax and benefits helpful.

Responsibilities

• Audit UI tax reports to ensure compliance.
• Review and adjust employer wage data and assess taxes, interest and penalties.
• Input wage information to ensure correct credits for claimants.
• Certify employer tax reporting to IRS as requested by employer.
• Collaborate with stakeholders on Iowa Employment Security Law matters.
• Prepare briefs for Inspections and Appeals and participate in hearings.
