Job summary

UHC United Hospital Center is seeking a phlebotomist responsible for blood and blood culture collection, as well as non-blood specimens such as urine, sputum, semen, and throat swabs. The role includes chain of custody specimen collection and performing venipunctures and skin punctures.

Candidates must have a High School Diploma; six months phlebotomy experience; CPT certification preferred. Duties include labeling specimens, operating basic lab equipment, and clerical tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Consistently draws blood competently and expediently with as little patient discomfort as possible for patient groups from neonates to geriatrics.
  • Properly labels all specimens in the presence of the patient.
  • Operate basic laboratory equipment (e.g., centrifuges, computer systems, labeling printers, scanners, phone system, etc.).
  • Communicate effectively and appropriately with patients, clients, and staff.
  • Perform clerical duties such as filing, report distribution, processing, and faxing.
  • If applicable, collect drug screens (internal and external) using Chain of Custody Process.

  1. Ability to use a computer keyboard, monitor, mouse, and calculator.

  2. Ability to use computer software (PowerPoint, Word, and Excel).

  3. Ability to use Fax machines, printers and other office equipment.

Additional Job Description:

Schedule will primarily include weekends. May be asked to work additional shifts throughout the week as needed.
