Job summary

AeroVironment is seeking a Flight Test Operator II to perform functional flight tests of unmanned aircraft and equipment for quality assurance. The role involves field testing, travel to various sites, and working with test equipment to verify performance and safety.

The candidate should have 1–2 years of related experience, FAA Part 107 certification, and the ability to operate multiple UAV systems. Occasional overtime and travel are required to support testing operations.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1–2 years experience or equivalent
• Experience at an Aircraft Manufacturing company
• Ability to document issues and suggest solutions
• Ability to operate at least two UAV systems
• Must pass FAA Part 107 exam and maintain VLOS up to 1 km
• Willingness to travel locally and interstate
• Overtime and weekend work as needed
• Maintain a clean DMV record for driving company vehicles

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary contact during acceptance testing with customers
• Perform tests on AV products including quality and customer acceptance tests
• Support other department product testing as needed
• Prepare test plans and post-flight reports; provide feedback on aircraft performance
• Follow safety protocols and report issues
• May write new safety procedures with EH&S
• Provide support to Flight Team and feedback on peers
• Provide feedback on observed aircraft performance and root-causes
• Possibly lead flight test operations including checklists and staffing
• Work within well-defined requirements with supervision
• Other duties as assigned
