Job summary

Yoh is seeking an experienced UAS Hardware Integration Technician for a 12-month contract in San Diego, CA. The role focuses on building, integrating, testing, and troubleshooting electrical and electromechanical systems for unmanned aircraft and autonomous platforms.

Responsibilities include assembling low-voltage DC systems, wiring harness fabrication, and interfacing flight controllers with sensors and payloads. ITAR U.S.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience building or repairing UAS platforms, HIL systems, robotics, or related electromechanical hardware.
  • Strong understanding of UAS/robotic hardware including flight controllers, onboard computers, sensors, actuators, payloads, and ground systems.
  • Experience with low-voltage DC electrical systems, power distribution, grounding, bonding, shielding, and load management.
  • Proficient in cable and wire-harness fabrication techniques (crimping, soldering, connector assembly, termination, routing, labeling, continuity).
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, connector pinouts, interface drawings and specifications.
  • Hands-on troubleshooting using electrical test equipment (DMMs, oscilloscopes, power supplies, logic analyzers).
  • Strong documentation and teamwork skills across engineering and testing groups.
  • Must meet ITAR U.S. Person requirements for access to export-controlled information.

Responsibilities

  • Build, install, test, and maintain electrical and electromechanical hardware used across unmanned aircraft and ground test equipment.
  • Integrate aircraft computing hardware, flight controllers, sensors, actuators, payloads, and power components into test configurations.
  • Assemble and support low-voltage DC electrical systems including distribution, protection, grounding, shielding, and load management.
  • Fabricate and inspect cables and wire harnesses including connector assembly, crimping, soldering, labeling, routing, and termination.
  • Interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, connector pinouts, and interface docs for assembly and troubleshooting.
  • Diagnose electrical and electromechanical issues using instruments and signal tracing.
  • Validate system performance with oscilloscopes, DMMs, power supplies, electronic loads, and logic analyzers.
  • Configure and troubleshoot CAN, Ethernet, RS-232/422/485, MIL-STD-1553 interfaces.
  • Maintain hardware and documentation, BOMs, and as-built records.
  • Provide hands-on technical support during lab, ground, and flight-testing.

Job description

Yoh has an exciting, 12-month contract opportunity for a UAS Hardware Integration Technician to join our Autonomous Technology client in San Diego, CA. This position is ideal for an experienced, hands‑on technician who enjoys building, integrating, testing, and troubleshooting electrical and electromechanical systems supporting unmanned and autonomous aircraft.

This is a fully onsite position, and candidates must be within a commutable distance of the San Diego facility.

Title: UAS Hardware Integration Technician

Compensation: $50.00–$60.00/hour, depending on experience

Type: 12-Month Contract; potential to extend or convert

Location: San Diego, CA;Onsite

Eligibility: Due to the nature of the work and applicable export-control requirements, candidates must qualify as a U.S. Person under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Responsibilities
  • Build, install, test, and maintain electrical and electromechanical hardware used across unmanned aircraft, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) environments, and ground-based test equipment.
  • Integrate aircraft computing hardware, flight controllers, sensors, actuators, communications equipment, payloads, and electrical power components into functional test and flight configurations.
  • Assemble and support low-voltage DC electrical systems, including power distribution, circuit protection, grounding, shielding, load management, and power verification.
  • Fabricate and inspect electrical cables and wire harnesses, including connector assembly, pinning, crimping, soldering, termination, labeling, routing, strain relief, and continuity checks.
  • Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, connector pinouts, interface documentation, and equipment specifications to support system assembly and troubleshooting.
  • Diagnose electrical, communications, and electromechanical issues through signal tracing, point-to-point testing, fault isolation, and component-level evaluation.
  • Utilize oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, power supplies, electronic loads, logic analyzers, and other laboratory equipment to validate system performance.
  • Configure and troubleshoot common aircraft and test-system communications interfaces, which may include CAN, Ethernet, RS-232/422/485, and MIL-STD-1553.
  • Maintain test and aircraft hardware through inspections, repairs, preventive maintenance, calibration coordination, configuration management, and technical documentation.
  • Evaluate and source hardware components and test equipment based on performance, environmental, cost, and availability requirements.
  • Maintain bills of materials, hardware records, approved component alternatives, inventory information, and as-built system documentation.
  • Provide hands-on technical support during laboratory testing, ground testing, and flight-test activities.
Qualifications
  • Demonstrated hands‑on experience building, integrating, troubleshooting, or repairing UAS platforms, HIL systems, robotics, aerospace hardware, or similar electromechanical systems.
  • Strong understanding of UAS or robotic hardware, including flight controllers, onboard computers, sensors, actuators, payloads, communications hardware, and ground systems.
  • Experience working with low-voltage DC electrical systems, power distribution, circuit protection, grounding, bonding, shielding, and load management.
  • Proficiency with cable and wire‑harness fabrication techniques, including crimping, soldering, connector assembly, termination, routing, labeling, and continuity testing.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, connector pinouts, interface drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Hands‑on troubleshooting experience using electrical and electronic test equipment such as DMMs, oscilloscopes, power supplies, electronic loads, and logic analyzers.
  • Strong documentation, organization, and problem‑solving skills with the ability to work effectively across engineering and testing teams.
  • Must meet applicable ITAR U.S. Person requirements for access to export‑controlled technical information.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting autonomous aircraft, robotics, or other integrated electromechanical platforms.
  • Knowledge of analog, digital, PWM, discrete, CAN, serial, and Ethernet interfaces.
  • Familiarity with UAS and embedded‑computing technologies such as PX4, ArduPilot, QGroundControl, Mission Planner, MAVLink, NVIDIA Jetson, Linux, or ROS/ROS 2.
  • Experience building or maintaining HIL systems, test fixtures, breakout boxes, simulation hardware, or automated test equipment.
  • Familiarity with mechanical CAD, additive manufacturing, and fabrication of brackets, enclosures, or other supporting hardware.
  • Knowledge of aerospace or electronics workmanship standards is a plus.

Estimated Min Rate: $38.50

Estimated Max Rate: $55.00
