Marine Diesel Engineer

Position Summary:

As Marine Engineer, you will support diesel engine propulsion systems and ship service diesel generators onboard Navy surface ships, submarines, and aircraft carriers. You will work alongside program managers, engineers, and Navy personnel.

Qualifications:

  • BS in Marine Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution (other degrees will not be considered).

Clearance Requirements:

  • Must be a US citizen capable of obtaining and maintaining a DoD Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze, trend, and report diesel engine data; develop logistics, plan projects, support training, and develop test plans and procedures.
  • Conduct ship visits for inspections and data collection.
  • Calibrate diesel engines and verify governor controls.
  • Troubleshoot diesel propulsion and generation systems.
  • Support installation of new system upgrades on US Navy ships and submarines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • BS in Marine Engineering; other degrees are not considered.
  • Up to 5 years of experience in diesel engine operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting (recent maritime academy graduates considered).
  • Shipboard experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.

Physical Demands:

  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
  • Physical activity including walking, climbing stairs, bending, and standing.
  • Ability to speak, read, hear, and write; proficiency with office equipment.
