Job summary

Nucor Steel Marion, Inc. is seeking a U-Channel Lead to assist the supervisor in safety, direction, and development of the U-Channel Products Team in Marion, Ohio. The role supports safety, profitability, quality and productivity while coordinating with vendors and managing inventory.

The ideal candidate will bring manufacturing experience, a strong safety record, and leadership skills to coach and mentor the team. Flexibility to work varied shifts, weekends, and holidays is required.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated commitment to safety and a strong safety culture.
• Experience in manufacturing settings.
• Ability to meet mobile equipment operation requirements.
• Leadership experience/lead level or above with automation and team coaching (preferred).
• Experience with fabrication/line equipment and maintenance (preferred).
• Ability to lead teams, coach, mentor, train, and build relationships (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Assist the supervisor in safety, direction, and development of the U-Channel Products Team.

Basic Job Functions:

The U-Channel Lead assists the supervisor in the safety, direction, and development of the U-Channel Products Team. This role supports the goals of the u-channel fabrication department and Nucor Steel Marion in the areas of Safety, Profitability, Quality, Environmental, Cost and Productivity. Negotiating with vendors, assisting with inventory management, involvement in special projects, and performing maintenance on u-channel equipment will also be part of the day-to-day responsibilities of this position. The Lead will fill in for other positions and must be willing and capable of operating the forklifts as needed. The qualified candidate must be willing to work varied shifts, holidays, and weekends as required.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Demonstrated commitment to safety coupled with the ability to create and cultivate a strong safety culture.
• Previous manufacturing experience
• Must be able to meet the requirements for mobile equipment operation

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous Leadership Experience/Lead Level or Above with automation implementation
• Previous experience with fabrication and line equipment
• Previous experience leading teams, including conflict resolution, coaching, mentoring, training, and relationship building
• Previous experience with mechanical systems and maintenance
