Position Overview

This Sr. Field Engineer role involves managing a TxDOT project daily, overseeing inspection resources, coordinating with field staff and project managers, and ensuring compliance with plans, specifications, and contractual requirements. You will be responsible for monitoring construction activities, assisting in resolving project issues, and leading, mentoring, and training junior staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect, monitor, and oversee construction activities to ensure conformance to plans and specifications.
• Perform or supervise material testing, review plans, and prepare pay estimates.
• Manage field changes, review contractor reports, and prepare progress reports.
• Coordinate with Resident Engineer on project progress and issues.
• Utilize industry technology and tools to enhance inspection accuracy and efficiency.
• Provide office engineering support, including review of RFIs, submittals, and claims.
• Lead daily tasks, mentor staff, and monitor project controls.
• Recruit, develop, and retain staff, managing performance and schedules.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 6 years of relevant experience, or
• Master's degree with 5 years, or
• Doctorate with 4 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Skills and Certifications

• Industry standards knowledge, constructability review expertise.
• Effective resource deployment.
• Leadership in project management.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

• Certifications such as CCM, ACI, PMP.
• OSHA 10 certification.
• Experience with SiteManager and TxDOT CEI projects.
