This Sr. Field Engineer position manages a TxDOT project daily, overseeing inspection resources, coordinating with field staff and project managers, and ensuring compliance with plans, specifications, and contractual requirements. The role involves coordinating and monitoring inspection efforts in specific trades on moderate to complex projects, resolving project issues, and leading, mentoring, and training junior staff.

What You'll Do:

  • Inspect and oversee construction activities to ensure conformance to plans and specifications, managing KPIs and budgets.
  • Perform or supervise material testing, review plans for material requirements, track quantities, and prepare pay estimates.
  • Initiate field changes, identify document discrepancies, review contractor reports, and prepare progress reports.
  • Consult with Resident Engineer, recommend solutions, and act as liaison with the engineer of record.
  • Stay current with industry technology, utilizing tools like GPS/Rovers to enhance inspection efficiency.
  • Assist with office engineer tasks, review RFIs and submittals, and perform constructability reviews.
  • Lead daily assignments, mentor staff, and monitor project controls.
  • Recruit, hire, develop staff, and coordinate schedules and timecards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 6 years relevant experience, or
  • Master's degree with 5 years relevant experience, or
  • Doctorate degree with 4 years relevant experience.

What You'll Bring:

  • Knowledge of industry standards, best practices, and constructability reviews.
  • Effective resource management skills.

  • Advanced skills in shop drawing review and CPM schedule analysis.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.

What We Prefer:

  • Certifications like CCM, ACI, PMP (optional).
  • OSHA 10 certification (preferred).
