Job summary

Mohawk Industries, Inc. is seeking a Twister Operator for the D shift to operate and monitor yarn twisting machinery, ensuring steady production while maintaining safety and quality standards. The role involves handling creel frames, threading yarn, and performing routine maintenance and inspections.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent and prior yarn or manufacturing experience. Training on health, safety, and SOPs is provided, with responsibilities including

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required or preferred.
• Successful completion of all required on the job training.
• Successful completion of all required health and environmental safety training.
• Previous Yarn or Manufacturing experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate Creel frame to load yarn into twister and monitor output.
• Reposition yarn buggies and stage tubes for winding operations.
• Thread yarn ends, operate spindle, and repair minor breakouts during runs.
• Doff twisted yarn packages and transfer to container or buggy.
• Monitor machine and output for safe, efficient operation.
• Clean and dechoke spindles to maintain efficiency and meet production needs.
• Perform quality checks using inspection methods such as visual or light-based checks.
• Attend trainings as required by supervision.
• Follow all SOPs and safety rules and company policies.
• Maintain general housekeeping and keep work area organized.
• Perform other tasks assigned by management.

• Set up, operate, and tend to many machines organized into a frame that twist yarn together.

Major Function and Scope:

• Creel single or double ply yarn packages and load yarn into twister
• Reposition buggies of yarn at the twisters and stage tubes for winder operation
• Thread ends of single yarns, operate the spindle, and repair breakouts during production runs
• Doff twisted yarn packages and transfer them from the conveyor to a buggy/container
• Monitor production output and machine equipment for safe and efficient operation
• Clean and dechoke spindles to maintain machine efficiency and meet production requirements
• Perform quality checks using black lights to check yarn
• Attend any job-related training deemed necessary by supervision
• Follow all established standard operating and safety procedures as well as company policies
• Perform general housekeeping duties as necessary
• Perform other tasks assigned by management

Years of Experience and Knowledge:

Physical Requirements / Other Pertinent Job Information:

• May require bending, squatting, climbing, and other physical movement for long periods of time
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds frequently
• Working around moving equipment and in an industrial environment
• Working in an environment where there may be regular exposure to chemicals, noise from machinery, dust, fumes, and variable temperatures
