Job summary

Mohawk Industries is seeking a Twister Operator on the A Shift in Chatsworth, GA. You will set up, operate, and tend twisting yarn machines, load yarn, and monitor production for safety and quality.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent; prior yarn or manufacturing experience is preferred. This is a full-time, on-site role with physical requirements including lifting up to 50 pounds and working around moving equipment.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and tend to yarn twisting machines.

• Thread ends, operate spindle, and repair breakouts during production.
• Doff twisted yarn packages and transfer them to containers.
• Monitor production output and machine safety; perform quality checks.

• Set up, operate, and tend to many machines organized into a frame that twist yarn together.

Major Function and Scope:

• Creel single or double ply yarn packages and load yarn into twister
• Reposition buggies of yarn at the twisters and stage tubes for winder operation
• Thread ends of single yarns, operate the spindle, and repair breakouts during production runs
• Doff twisted yarn packages and transfer them from the conveyor to a buggy/container
• Monitor production output and machine equipment for safe and efficient operation
• Clean and dechoke spindles to maintain machine efficiency and meet production requirements
• Perform quality checks using black lights to check yarn
• Attend any job-related training deemed necessary by supervision
• Follow all established standard operating and safety procedures as well as company policies
• Perform general housekeeping duties as necessary
• Perform other tasks assigned by management

Knowledge, Experience, Certifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
• Successful completion of all required on the job training
• Successful completion of all required health and environmental safety training
• Previous Yarn or Manufacturing experience is preferred

Competencies:

• Operate in a team-based environment
• Basic math skills
• Deal with problems involving variables in standardized situations
• Read spec sheets or product information

• May require bending, squatting, climbing, and other physical movement for long periods of time
