Judd Wire, Inc., a Sumitomo Electric Group company, is seeking a 3rd shift Twist Machine Operator at our Turners Falls, MA facility. The role involves performing operations related to twisting groups of insulated wires to make cable or cord, binding with tape or foil, and sintering tapewrap wire. Cross-training in other production areas may be required to meet business needs.

Hourly Rate: $20.32/hour plus $3.00/hour shift differential

Job Duties and Responsibilities

1. Work from orders, customer requirements, requisitions, and verbal instructions regarding wire gauge, number of ends, picks or crossovers per inch, footage requirements, and schedule adherence.
2. Operate cable machines, load reels, set up dies and lay plates, ensuring proper overlap, lay length, and conductor application.
3. Visually inspect and measure conductor size, label reels, and direct to subsequent operations.
4. Conduct testing as needed and operate tapewrap and sintering lines, maintaining proper tension and conditions.
5. Collaborate with process engineers to optimize operations, report issues, and maintain a clean work environment.
6. Follow safety regulations and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and basic math skills.
• Ability to work in a team, pay attention to detail, and willingness to learn.
• Knowledge of arithmetic, decimals, fractions, and use of micrometers.

Physical Requirements

• Moderate physical effort, including lifting up to 50 lbs., pushing, pulling, and frequent movement.
• Long periods of standing, with continuous mental and visual attention.
• Exposure to noise, fumes, dust, solvents, and temperature variations.
