Job summary

Sonja Biggs Educational Services Inc. is seeking a licensed Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments (TVI) to support students in California. You will provide direct instruction, consult with families, and participate in IEPs to promote access to learning.

Expect collaboration with educational teams, use of assistive technology, and ongoing professional growth in ECC and adaptive strategies across settings.

Qualifications

• CA Special Education Credential in Visual Impairments is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct, consultative, indirect, and assessment-based services aligned with IEPs.
• Conduct Functional Vision Assessments (FVA) and Learning Media Assessments (LMA).
• Provide ECC instruction and, when appropriate, core curriculum.
• Identify accessible materials, low-vision tools, and environmental adaptations.
• Develop individualized instruction to support student independence.
• Collaborate with families and multidisciplinary teams to enable access to learning.
• Participate in IEP meetings and monitor goals with progress reports.
• Train families and teams on strategies and tools for visual impairments.
• Deliver services across educational, home, childcare, and community settings.
• Manage caseload and stay current with best practices and assistive tech.
