Job summary

Cobb County School District in Marietta, GA seeks a Tutor, Title I, MS Math to support struggling students in mathematics and accelerate learning gains. This temporary role reports to the Title I Supervisor and requires a bachelor’s degree and a valid Georgia teaching certificate.

Responsibilities include targeted instruction, progress tracking, collaboration with classroom teachers, and tutoring hours documentation. Experience with remedial students is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Valid Georgia Teaching Certificate.
• Classroom experience required; remedial student experience preferred.
• Knowledge of 6-8th grade math.
• Strong written and oral communication; well-organized and able to manage students.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
• Provides academic assistance in the student's area of greatest need on a regular basis.
• Collaborates with the student's teacher concerning student academic needs.
• Engages students in appropriate academic activities.
• Helps students develop strong study skills.
• Establishes and maintains rapport with students.
• Maintains record of student's progress.
• Provides evaluations and other reports as requested by Title I Department in a timely manner.
• Reports tutoring hours to an assigned Tutor contact.
• Participates in scheduled meetings.
• Performs other duties as assigned by appropriate administrator.

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Provides instruction for struggling students to enable them to improve academic achievement in math.

Requirements

• Educational Level: Bachelor Degree required
• Certification/License Required: Valid Georgia Teaching Certificate
• Experience: Classroom experience required; working with remedial students preferred
• Physical Activities: Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities
• Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Written and oral communication; motivated, well-organized, student management, knowledge of 6-8th grade math

The Board of Education and the Superintendent may accept alternatives to some of the above requirements.
