Job summary

USC Upstate's Student Success Center seeks dedicated individuals to assist students across disciplines in tutoring and supplemental instruction. The Tutor or Supplemental Instruction Leader will deliver instruction during scheduled sessions and lead SI groups in Science, Mathematics, Business, and Nursing courses.

Most sessions run between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm with some evenings and weekends as needed. You will maintain session records, participate in tutor training, and contribute to

Qualifications

• Undergraduate status with a 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher.
• Earned a B or higher in the course(s) to be tutored.
• Currently enrolled in at least one credit hour.
• Availability to work 5 to 9 hours per week.
• Provide two faculty referrals.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule to meet department and student needs.

Position Overview – This role provides tutoring and supplemental instruction services to students across a variety of disciplines at USC Upstate. The Student Success Center seeks committed individuals to support academic success for students in Science, Mathematics, Business, Nursing, and other courses (except writing).

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide tutoring in assigned disciplines through the Student Success Center, delivering instruction during scheduled sessions.
• Lead Supplemental Instruction (SI) groups in designated courses (Science, Mathematics, Business, Nursing).
• Maintain a regular schedule of availability, with the majority of sessions scheduled between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm; flexibility for evenings and weekends as needed.
• Manage and track tutoring sessions, ensuring accurate documentation and conformity with Department standards.
• Participate in mandatory tutor training upon hiring.

Compensation: $11.00/hr for tutors, $12.00/hr for Supplemental Instruction leaders.

Benefits: Part‑time position with 15 hours per week. Flexible work schedule within 8:00 am – 5:00 pm window. Experience developing instructional skills and engaging with the student body.
