Job summary

Bellingham Public Schools, Joseph F. DiPietro Elementary School, Bellingham, MA, is seeking a Math/ELA Tutor for 19.5 hours per week for one year. The role provides small group and in-class support in ELA/Math with data-driven instruction and RTI planning.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching ELA/Math at K-3 levels per MA Frameworks preferred.
• Experience with DIBELS, UFLI, TOSWRF, and Running Records is helpful.

TITLE: Math/ELA Tutor (19.5 hours) – 1 year only - DiPietro Elementary School

POSITION SUMMARY:

To provide small group, in-class and out-of-class instruction in ELA and/or Mathematics.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Working with the classroom teacher and math/literacy specialists to provide rigorous, small group strategies, and skills instruction in-class and out-of-class.
• Administer and document formal, informal and progress monitoring assessments.
• Meet routinely with the math/literacy specialists and Intervention team using data to discuss students’ progress and needs.
• Responsible for creating and updating RTI plans and reports.
• Attend and actively engage in all professional development, data analysis, planning, and parent meetings.
• Willingness to become involved in the academic and social aspects of school life to support student success, school spirit, and school climate and culture.
• Engage in a continuous cycle of feedback and improvement regarding instruction, planning, and classroom culture.
• Evaluate and recommend materials and programs beneficial for the intervention program.
• Incorporates technology when appropriate in tutoring sessions.
• Adheres to the adopted policies of the Bellingham School Committee.
• Foster a positive relationship with students, staff, and family.
• Other duties as assigned by the Principal.

SKILLS/ABILITY:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of Google classroom, Google meet, and iReady helpful.
• Understanding of or experience using Bridges program, math manipulatives and/or standardized reading programs helpful.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES and/or DEGREE REQUIREMENTS:

• Experience teaching ELa and/or Mathematics at K-3 levels per the Massachusetts Frameworks preferred.

SALARY: $30/hour up to 19.5 hous/week

CLASSIFICATION: Non-Union

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

You are required to be physically capable of escorting students from the building in case of a practice drill or emergency situation in a safe and timely fashion.

Must be able to move about the classroom and have the ability to bend, sit or stand frequently.
