Job summary

Valar Atomics is seeking a structures engineer to join the turbomachinery team and advance power generation capability. You will analyze static components and define a manufacturable, high-efficiency design, influencing system architecture as an early turbomachinery hire.

You will work cross-functionally to ensure manufacturability, durability, and performance under diverse operating conditions, with ownership and opportunity to shape the product from ground up.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of experience conducting structural analysis.
• Experience with ANSYS, Nastran, and Abaqus.
• Experience with high temperature components and materials.
• Master's degree preferred.
• Knowledge of casting or forging processes preferred.
• Experience with supercritical CO2 preferred.

Responsibilities

• Analyze components for structural margins in a variety of operating conditions and transients.
• Size components for adequate strength.
• Select materials that balance capability versus lead time and cost considerations.
• Partner with cross functional partners to define required clearances for rotating turbomachinery.
