Job summary

Jobtailor seeks an experienced turbomachinery design engineer to own the aerodynamics from mean-line design through CFD to hardware release. You will define machine architecture, including stage count and shaft speed, and design a high-efficiency expansion turbine for shaft power recovery.

Qualifications

  • Designed a radial or axial turbomachine that was built and ran.
  • Experience taking a stage from mean-line through CFD and back.
  • Understanding CFD limitations and conditions under which CFD may be inaccurate.
  • Worked a rotordynamics problem through resolution on a real shaft with real bearings.
  • Made early architecture decisions with incomplete data, including stage count, speed, or bearing type.
  • Experience using test maps to change the design.
  • Experience working in rapid hardware development environments.

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
