Job summary

Ursa Major in Colorado is seeking a Turbomachinery Design Engineer II to advance turbopump design across multiple engine platforms. You will own portions of the turbopump design and contribute to engine test and development.

The role requires a B.S. in mechanical or aerospace engineering with 3+ years in design, development, testing, and hardware-focused environments. Experience with CAD (NX or Creo) and cross-functional collaboration is essential.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
• 3+ years' design, development, and testing experience.
• 3+ years in hardware-focused organizations.
• Experience with CAD software (NX or Creo).
• Comfortable in a fast-paced startup environment.
• Design experience in mechanical design, bearing, seal, rotor dynamics; GD&T and blueprint review.
• Strong cross-functional communication between design, manufacturing and test.

Responsibilities

• Design turbopump subcomponents and assemblies to meet system requirements.
• Incorporate design modifications to improve performance and manufacturability.
• Support turbomachinery-related root-cause analysis.
• Support analysis to ensure turbopumps meet system requirements.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, analysis, and test teams to reduce variation and improve yield.
• Assist with first article prototype assembly.
