The position emphasizes strict adherence to safety, chart upkeep, and communication log maintenance, with a 28/14 work cycle and travel coverage from the nearest major airport.

Qualifications

• Merchant Mariners Credentials (Mate of Towing-Near Coastal)
• Valid Driver License
• Valid TWIC Card
• Pass Merchant Mariner Physical/CG-719K and Drug Screening
• Satisfactory Background Check
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work well in a team
• Physical fitness and the ability to handle the demands of working on a vessel
• Subject to Random Drug Screening

Responsibilities

• Oversee towing operations and assist Captain on planned voyages
• Maintain safety protocols for crew, vessel, and environment
• Conduct pre-voyage inspections and voyage planning
• Navigate the vessel during all dockings, un-dockings, and tow operations
• Ensure up-to-date and corrected charts are available
• Log vessel-to-vessel communications, waypoints, and timings
• Coordinate duties of crew to ensure readiness and compliance
• Relieve Captain as needed to ensure safe operation and adequate rest
