Job summary

PTC in Fairbury, IL is seeking an experienced Mair Operator to set up, adjust and run chamfer units, blowout/chopper equipment, and the Mair bundler for high-quality tubular products.

The role requires inspecting tubing dimensions, maintaining waste-free production, completing ERP paperwork, and safely operating an overhead crane while upholding strict safety standards and continuous improvement in a busy plant environment.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required.
• Completion of electrician course or associate degree or equivalent experience.
• 3–5 years hands-on electrical experience in industrial settings.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate chamfer units, blowout/chopper, and Mair bundler with minimal waste.
• Inspect tube length, gauge, OD/ID, cut quality, straightness and end condition.
• Keep area clean, stock supplies, and manage scarfing and scrap.
• Hex bundle tubes, ensure proper banding tension and tag by heat.
• Perform TPM checks and write work orders for repairs; operate overhead crane as needed.
• Enter data into ERP and maintain safety for self and crew.
