Job summary

PTC is seeking a Mill Operator to set up and run a tube mill, directing crew during production and maintenance to achieve quality parts with minimal waste. The role requires attention to measurements and data entry, plus safety and cleanliness as core duties.

Ideal candidates have a HS diploma or GED, basic math and computer skills, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Fairbury, IL with day-to-afternoon shift variations.

Responsibilities

• Correctly set the mill up using setup charts and mill reference manual.
• Direct crew during setup and minor maintenance.
• Direct crew during production.
• Adjust and operate tube mill to produce a quality product with minimal waste and downtime.
• Inspect and monitor product measurements (length, gauge, OD/ID).
• Fill out paperwork and enter data into computer.
• Run eddy current tester and document setup.

Job Summary

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Correctly set the mill up using setup charts and mill reference manual
• Gives direction to crew members to assist in the setup and minor maintenance.
• Gives direction to crew members during production
• Adjust and operates tube mill to produce a quality product with accepted quantities with a minimum amount of waste and downtime
• Constantly inspects and monitors product including measurements of length, gauge, od size, id cut, weld integrity/weld test, and end condition.
• Fills out all applicable paperwork through the operation including entering data into computer
• Runs eddy current tester; documents and verifies setup
• Responsible for safety of self and crew members
• Cleans all areas of the plant when not directed by supervisor to do anything else.
• Performs miscellaneous duties as directed

Skills and Abilities

• Ability to reason through problems involving adjustments to equipment.
• Must have an average background in math and computers.
• Expected to be able to lift, push or pull a maximum 50 pounds. Required to walk, stand, or climb for the entire shift. Must be able to bend, squat and have full range of all limbs without restrictions.
• Must have a HS diploma or GED
