Job summary

Independent Software, Inc. is seeking a System Administrator Level 1 to support the administration, maintenance, monitoring, and security of enterprise systems and applications used in mission-critical operations.

You will maintain servers, troubleshoot issues, support users, and help ensure systems remain secure, available, and performing effectively. Training and opportunities for growth are provided in a collaborative IT environment.

Qualifications

• Experience with system administration and maintenance.
• Experience supporting servers, operating systems, applications, and enterprise IT environments.
• Strong hardware troubleshooting skills.
• Experience providing remote technical assistance and remote desktop support.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve system, application, and network-related problems.
• Experience with system monitoring, performance, availability, and capacity management.
• Knowledge of system security controls, access management, endpoint protection, and firewalls.
• Experience supporting system upgrades, migrations, patching, and configuration changes.
• Strong troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to support escalated technical issues and provide guidance to less experienced personnel.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, manage, and maintain servers, operating systems, and key applications.
• Apply patches, updates, and configuration changes in accordance with change management procedures.
• Perform routine system health checks, capacity planning, and performance tuning.
• Diagnose and resolve system, application, and network-related issues.
• Provide advanced technical support for escalated issues from help desk and Tier 1 teams.
• Support user account management, permissions, and access controls.
• Install, configure, and deploy new systems, applications, and tools.
• Assist with system upgrades, migrations, and integrations.
• Document system configurations, procedures, and standards.
• Help implement and monitor security controls, including antivirus, endpoint protection, firewalls, and access management.
• Participate in audits, risk assessments, and remediation activities.
• Use monitoring tools to track system performance, availability, and capacity.
• Respond to alerts, incidents, and outages and perform root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Prepare reports on system health, incidents, and improvements.
• Collaborate with network, security, applications, and help desk teams on technical initiatives and projects.
• Contribute to IT process improvements, standards, documentation, and system architecture improvements.
