Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Systems Administrator to support a Maryland-based customer in Alexandria, VA, delivering daily system administration and O&M for a complex, distributed network.

The role requires hands-on experience with Windows/Linux, VMware, and data center design, plus the ability to work with cross-functional teams and on-call support. Strong documentation, security scanning, and rapid problem resolution are essential.

Qualifications

• BS and 4-8 years of prior relevant experience (or MS with 2-6 years).
• Experience with IT/software programs using complex equipment (switches/routers/LANs, Windows/Linux, VMware).
• Experience with Data Center design and configuration (rack/stack, power, placement).
• Experience or familiarity with IT system optimization, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Experience documenting technical processes and assisting users in an IT/customer service context.
• Ability to respond quickly to customer inquiries with clear status reports.
• Commitment to best practices with maintenance windows and change control.

Responsibilities

• Handle IT help desk calls and emails with timely, professional responses.
• Use enterprise monitoring to identify alarms and respond to issues.
• Troubleshoot hardware/software issues and network connectivity with senior staff.
• Provide technical assistance to related teams and maintain inter-department relations.
• Publish status of system outages and inform users as needed.
• Manage information assurance vulnerabilities and perform security scans (IAVA).
• Initiate IAVA responses, apply security patches, and document remediation.
• Create and maintain documentation to aid incident resolution.
• Assist with IT enhancements and project work.
