Job summary

Independent Software in Annapolis Junction, MD seeks an Information System Security Officer to support information assurance programs and enforce security policies across systems. You will monitor IDS, conduct audits, and implement security controls while collaborating with teams to uphold high security standards.

Requirements include 2–4 years as an ISSO on similar contracts, DoD 8570 IAT Level I or higher, TS/SCI clearance, and a background in computer science or related fields.

Qualifications

• Requires 2-4 years' ISSO experience on programs of similar scope, type, and complexity.
• Experience includes knowledge of current security tools and hardware/software security implementation; communication protocols; encryption techniques/tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; strong communications; ability to lead and work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Supports information assurance program for an organization or program and ensures information systems security policies and procedures are followed.
• Monitors and analyzes IDS to identify security issues for remediation.
• Conducts regular audits to ensure secure operation and policy compliance.
• Develops, tests, and operates firewalls, IDS, antivirus systems, and deployment tools.
• Researches, evaluates, tests, and implements new security software or devices.
• Implements and communicates security policies or plans for data, applications, hardware, and telecom security education programs.
• Performs periodic system audits and vulnerability assessments, including user accounts and access control.
