Job summary

Assertive Professionals in Hanover, MD is seeking a Hardware Design Engineer for a National Security program near Hanover. This is a funded and immediate position with a $5,000 sign-on bonus, $2,000 relocation reimbursement, and a $1,200 annual compliance bonus.

The role centers on designing and testing ICs and hardware, developing firmware for DSP/FPGA devices, and reverse engineering existing components to meet government needs.

Qualifications

  • TS/SCI with ability to pass a Polygraph.
  • Twelve (12) years experience as a hardware design engineer in IC or microelectronic hardware design or reverse engineering.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Five (5) years additional hardware design experience may substitute for a degree.
  • 14 years of experience programming in VHDL/FPGA.
  • Experience with Xilinx FPGAs (Virtex II Pro to Virtex 6).
  • Linux platform experience (5 years).
  • Proficient with Xilinx ISE, Synplify Pro, ModelSim (5 years).
  • _Pin-level VHDL and clocking constraints (8 years).
  • Programming in scripting languages: Perl, shell, bash, etc. (1 year).
  • Using Linux/Unix for daily activities (5 years).

Responsibilities

  • Assist with designing new products and processes and improving existing products.
  • Conduct design analysis to ensure cost efficiency, manufacturability and reliability.
  • Coordinate with engineering staff to ensure project completion.
  • Apply P&R tools to create physical implementations of designs.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for P&R design flows.
  • Assist with reverse engineering to retrieve firmware/software.
  • Lead designs of new products and processes and improve existing ones.
  • Provide technical leadership to less experienced engineers.
  • Direct and review work of other hardware design engineers.
