Job summary

Momentum Engineering, Annapolis Junction, MD, seeks a Cloud Software Engineer 2 to develop mission-critical software supporting large distributed computing environments. You will work in an Agile team to build, deploy, and sustain applications for mission-focused systems.

The role requires active TS/SCI clearance with NSA Full Scope Polygraph, 5+ years of software development, and experience with Java/C/C++. Strong UNIX/Linux and AWS or DevOps familiarity are preferred.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance with NSA Full Scope Polygraph is required.
• Five+ years of experience in software development or software engineering across the full lifecycle.
• Four+ years of experience in Java, C, or C++ development.
• Three+ years of experience in UNIX/Linux environments, including Red Hat.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field; advanced degrees may substitute for experience.
• Certifications: AWS Developer – Associate or AWS Machine Learning – Associate/Specialty, CKAD.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, integrate, test, deploy, and maintain Java-based applications for large-scale distributed environments.
• Participate in the full Agile software development lifecycle—from requirements analysis to sustainment.
• Develop software that integrates with COTS and GOTS technologies.
• Perform code reviews, troubleshooting, performance optimization, and root-cause analysis.
• Develop automated test plans and execute validation activities.
• Deploy and manage software using IaC, automation, and modern CI/CD practices.
• Develop and support software in containerized/microservices architectures.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders to deliver scalable solutions.
• Mentor junior developers and promote best practices across the team.
