Job summary

GDIT is seeking a Cloud Engineer to join our team supporting a intelligence customer in Springfield, VA. The role focuses on automating deployments, securing systems, and integrating with enterprise authentication within an AWS environment.

You will work in an agile setting, develop full-stack features, mentor juniors, and optimize infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines using GitLab, Jenkins, and Nexus. A strong background in TS/SCI programs, TypeScript/JavaScript, and Kubernetes is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Programming, Science, Engineering or related discipline.
• 8+ years IT experience.
• Meet DoD 8570 IAT Level II requirements (Security+ CE, CND, SSCP, GSEC, GICSP, CySA+, or CCNA).
• Strong knowledge of AWS.
• Strong troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with scripting languages (Bash, PowerShell, Perl).
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum.
• Familiarity with DevOps and CI tools: GitLab, Jenkins, Nexus.
• Extensive TypeScript/JavaScript background.
• Angular frontend framework; UI/UX design.
• Microservice-based backend; REST APIs integration.
• PaaS environment support for full-stack apps.
• CI/CD with GitLab.
• Docker containerization.
• Kubernetes orchestration.

Responsibilities

• Maintain security requirements for operation of systems with the AA Team.
• Improve existing infrastructure (autoscaling, new services, cost optimization, authentication, search).
• Produce detailed documentation.
• Manage AWS-based environment (EC2, S3, Load Balancer, RDS).
• Automate and optimize deployments.
• Deliver full-stack web app to production and resolve operational issues.
• Participate in requirements gatherings with customers.
• Design and implement application features independently.
• Refactor legacy code for reliability and maintainability.
• Mentor junior developers.
• Write and read unit tests; perform code-quality checks.
• Write/read Javascript/Typescript; understand related tooling.
• Develop apps backed by relational DB; understand RDB design concepts.
