Qualifications

• Hold and maintain a valid CDL with S, Passenger, and Air Brake Endorsements.
• Minimum of three years' safe driving experience.
• Sufficient mechanical aptitude to diagnose minor problems and repairs.
• Ability to maintain passenger discipline for safety and well-being.
• Provide proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident status via Form I-9.
• Criminal history check clearance by the Department of Education or a sworn statement if within initial six months.
• Provide information on past employers involving work with children; consent for disclosure; and any history of child abuse or misconduct.
• Health adequate to perform job with reasonable accommodation; DOT physical required.
• Pass Mantoux TB test as required by state regulations.
• Meet alternatives to these qualifications as deemed appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Conducts a pre-trip safety inspection and completes the School Bus Condition Report.
• Notifies supervisor of any mechanical malfunctions or safety hazards.
• Adheres to routes, stops, and time schedules; transports only authorized pupils.
• Obeys traffic laws and school bus safety regulations.
• Maintains discipline on the bus and reports violations to the principal.
• Reports accidents and pupil injuries and completes required reports.
• Participates in emergency drills and instructs passengers on safety rules.
• Performs interior bus cleaning daily and exterior cleaning as needed.
• Performs light maintenance and other duties within the scope of employment.
