Job summary

You will manage reactive media relations across SPS, support inbound press inquiries, and craft statements for external audiences while coordinating with executives and stakeholders in a matrixed global organization.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional communications or public relations experience.
• Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, or a related field.
• Experience working independently with minimal supervision.
• Experience in fast-paced and ambiguous environments or communicating results to senior leadership.
• Experience with fast moving or negative media cycles.
• Strong attention to detail, bias for action, and ability to understand complex business topics.
• Strong judgement and ability to make decisions in real-time.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, assess, elevate, and resolve a variety of situations with excellent judgement.
• Dive deeply with internal teams to understand how their businesses work.
• Formulate a clear point of view on complex issues and create concise, well-written statements.
• Build and maintain relationships with key media outlets/reporters.
• Manage incoming media inquiries, correct inaccuracies, and lay groundwork for future story development.
• Speak with reporters to gather information, educate them on topics, and push back on inaccuracies.
• Represent Amazon as a spokesperson.
• Help manage external PR firms as necessary.
