Job summary

First National Bank is hiring a Trust Operations Manager in Ames, IA to lead our trust and wealth management operations. The role focuses on guiding a team, ensuring accurate processing, and driving efficiency across estate, investment, and trust services.

The successful candidate will partner with Trust Officers, Wealth Advisors, Compliance, IT, and Finance to enhance workflows, control risk, and deliver high-quality client service. Strong leadership and process-improvement skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Management, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Several years of banking, trust operations, wealth management operations, financial services, or similar experience.
• Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Trust Operations team with coaching and performance management.
• Oversee processes supporting trust, estate, investment, and wealth management services.
• Ensure transactions, records, and account activities are accurate and timely.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce risk, and enhance client experience.
• Partner with Trust Officers, Wealth Advisors, Compliance, IT, Finance, and other departments.
• Monitor controls and adherence to internal policies and regulatory requirements.
• Manage vendor relationships and support system enhancements and technology initiatives.
• Develop procedures that promote consistency and operational excellence.
• Analyze data and performance metrics to identify trends and improvements.

First National Bank is seeking a collaborative and detail-oriented Trust Operations Manager to lead the day-to-day operations that support our trust and wealth management services. In this role, you'll oversee critical processes, guide a talented team, improve workflows, and help ensure clients receive accurate, timely, and high-quality service.

What You'll Do

• Analyze operational data and performance metrics to identify trends and recommend improvements.Lead or participate in projects related to process improvement, technology implementation, and operational change.

What We're Looking For

• Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Several years of experience in banking, trust operations, wealth management operations, financial services, or a similar environment.
• Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships across teams.
• Experience reviewing processes and implementing operational improvements.
• Proficiency with business systems, reporting tools, and Microsoft Office applications.
