Job summary

Saia Logistics LLC is seeking a Transportation Specialist to source carrier capacity, negotiate rates, and coordinate freight movements. You will act as a liaison among customers, carriers, and internal teams to ensure efficient operations and exceptional service.

The role focuses on securing cost-effective capacity, maintaining strong carrier relationships, and providing timely shipment updates to stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years in logistics, transportation, or freight brokerage.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience using Transportation Management Systems (TMS).

Responsibilities

• Negotiate transportation rates and pricing with carriers.
• Maintain relationships with customers and carriers to support growth and service excellence.
• Source carrier capacity to meet customer requirements and ensure lane coverage.
• Coordinate pickup and delivery schedules for on-time freight movement.
• Communicate shipment status updates and handling of delays to customers.

Serves as a key liaison between customers, carriers, and internal teams to ensure efficient operations and exceptional service.Major Tasks and ResponsibilitiesNegotiates transportation rates and pricing agreements with carriers to secure cost-effective capacity solutions.Maintains strong relationships with customers and carriers to support service excellence and business growth.Sources carrier capacity to meet customer transportation requirements and support consistent lane coverage.Coordinates pickup and delivery schedules to ensure on-time freight movement and alignment with customer expectations.Communicates shipment status updates, delays, and service exceptions to customers and stakeholders.Maintains transportation management systems (TMS) and shipment records to support operational visibility and data accuracy.Resolves service issues, escalations, and shipment discrepancies in collaboration with cross-functional teams to support customer satisfaction.Minimum QualificationsMust be at least 18 years of age.High school diploma or GED.Authorized to work in the United States.Preferred QualificationsBachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field.2+ years of logistics, transportation, or freight brokerage experience.Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.Experience using transportation management systems (TMS).Work Conditions and Physical DemandsReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods while working at a computer or desk.Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, handling documents, and operating office equipment.Occasional lifting/carrying of office materials/boxes up to 25 lbs.Adequate vision and hearing (with or without correction) to read, prepare, and communicate information.Occasional movement, bending, and reaching as needed to perform office tasks or attend meetings.Some travel may be required, including overnight travel.BenefitsAt Saia, your success is our success!
