Job summary

McKee Foods is seeking a Truck Technician to join our Fleet Maintenance team in Gentry, AR. You will repair and maintain heavy duty trucks, trailers, yard tractors, cars, and garage equipment on-site.

The position requires basic to intermediate diesel/mechanical skills, 6–12 months in a garage or vocational setting, and the ability to lift 50+ pounds. Shift involves 2nd shift hours and on-site work with travel for training as needed.

Qualifications

• 6–12 months experience in a garage or vocational setting.
• Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, etc.
• Strong perception, judgment and decision-making skills.
• Good oral and written communication and teamwork.
• Ability to document and process information.
• Must have tools to support Class 8 repairs.
• Capable of tire and wheel breakdown, build, balancing, and alignment.
• Diagnose electrical system problems and perform repairs.
• Repair and adjust tractor/trailer ABS and air brake systems.
• Experience with trailer repairs.
• Able to lift 50+ pounds regularly.
• Must obtain Lift Truck Operator license within 90 days.
• Must obtain ASE/MHD certifications within one year.
• Must have EPA-approved A/C certification or obtain within 30 days.
• Willing to work overtime or other shifts as needed.
• Willing to travel for training or process improvement events.

Job Summary

Required Qualifications

• 6-12 months experience in a garage environment or vocational school
• Capable of reading schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, etc.
• Good perception, judgment and decision-making skills
• Good oral and written communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment
• Ability to document and process information
• Must have tools to support general Class 8 truck and trailer repairs
• Capable of performing tire and wheel break down, build up, balancing and alignment
• Knowledgeable in performing diagnostic checks on electrical systems
• Able to diagnose fuel and lubrication system problems and make repairs
• Capable of performing repairs and adjustments on tractor, trailer ABS and air brake systems, differentials, clutches, drive line, suspensions, transmissions and steering
• Experience in performing trailer repairs
• Ability to perform heavy lifting 50+ pounds on a regular basis
• Must have or be able to obtain McKee Foods LTO (Lift Truck Operator) license within 90 days on the job (includes a good driving record and meeting vision requirements to drive a lift truck at McKee Foods)
• Must have or be able to obtain ASE Medium/Heavy Duty certifications based on the pay level at the time of hire as prescribed in the technician’s syllabus. The required certification must be obtained within one year of the hire date
• Must have EPA approved air conditioning certification or obtain within 30 days on the job
• Must be able to work overtime, or other shifts when necessary
• Willing to travel for training, and other process improvement event

Preferred Qualifications

• Two years of experience performing heavy duty truck and trailer maintenance or equivalent education with a Diploma in Diesel and Truck Technology from an accredited Technical School
• General computer knowledge and skills
• Certified Welder
• A Class A CDL may be required based on business needs
