Job summary

McKee Foods Corporation is seeking a Class 8 Truck Technician to join our Fleet Maintenance team in Collegedale, TN. You will perform repairs and maintenance on gas and/or diesel engines and trailers, supporting a safe, efficient fleet.

The ideal candidate will grow with us, with opportunities for training and advancement across our legacy brands and nationwide operations.

Qualifications

  • 6-12 months experience in a garage environment or vocational school.
  • Able to read schematics, wiring diagrams, blue prints, etc.
  • Good perception, judgment and decision making skills.
  • Good oral and written communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Must have tools to support general Class 8 truck and trailer repairs.
  • Capable of performing tire and wheel break-down, build up, balancing and alignment.
  • Knowledgeable in performing diagnostic checks on electrical systems.
  • Able to diagnose fuel and lubrication system problems and make repairs.
  • Capable of performing repairs and adjustments on tractor, trailer ABS and air brake systems, differentials, clutches, drive line, suspensions, transmissions and steering.
  • Experience in performing trailer repairs
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting 50+ pounds on a regular basis.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and maintain heavy duty trucks, trailers, yard tractors, cars/pickups/vans, truck garage and equipment.
  • Work with the Fleet Maintenance team to ensure uptime and safety.
  • Document repairs and maintain accurate records.

Pay

$25.42 - $42.43/ hour, depending on experience and qualifications
Plus $1.00 / hour. shift premium for 2nd shift hours

Week 1: Sunday - Wednesday, 1:45 p.m. - 12:15 a.m.
Week 2: Monday - Thursday, 1:45 p.m. - 12:15 a.m.

Job Summary

McKee Foods is seeking a Class 8 Truck Technician to join our Fleet Maintenance team. This position will be conducting repairs and maintenance on gas and/or diesel engines and trailers. The ideal candidate has the potential to work, learn and grow with us throughout his/her career.

Technician will repair and maintain:
  • heavy duty trucks
  • trailers
  • yard tractors
  • cars / pickups / vans
  • truck garage and equipment
Required Qualifications

  • Ability to document and process informationMust have tools to support general Class 8 truck and trailer repairs
  • Capable of performing tire and wheel break-down, build up, balancing and alignment
  • Knowledgeable in performing diagnostic checks on electrical systems
  • Able to diagnose fuel and lubrication system problems and make repairs
  • Capable of performing repairs and adjustments on tractor, trailer ABS and air brake systems, differentials, clutches, drive line, suspensions, transmissions and steering
  • Experience in performing trailer repairs
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting 50+ pounds on a regular basis
  • Must have or be able to obtain McKee Foods LTO (Lift Truck Operator) license within 90 days on the job (includes a good driving record and meeting vision requirements to drive a lift truck at McKee Foods)
  • Must have or be able to obtain ASE Medium/Heavy Duty certifications based on the pay level at the time of hire as prescribed in the technician's syllabus. The required certification must be obtained within one year of the hire date.
  • Must have EPA approved air conditioning certification or obtain within 30 days on the job
  • Must be able to work overtime, or other shifts when necessary
  • Willing to travel for training, and other process improvement events
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two years' experience performing heavy duty truck and trailer maintenance or equivalent education with a Diploma in Diesel and Truck Technology from an accredited Technical School
  • General computer knowledge and skills
  • Certified Welder
  • Current Commercial Driver's License
